Following his superb debut LP for Tectonic, Acre opens the doublepack with the stuttered, swung sound design of "Messages", and from here Tempa run the gamut of the UK bass scene.
Friendly Fire EP double 12". Spacer 12". Compound One UK. Astrophonica UK. Better Than Tomorrow hand-numbered 12". If you've been following the Astrophonica label then you'll agree that such an honour is fully deserved for Fracture and these The Beatles - Abbey Road tracks lead Metalheadz boss man Goldie to proclaim the following upon checking them on a long haul flight down under: "I'm pulling out my teeth wanting to beat the guy next to me with a Snare and 10" dubplate!!!!
This is one of the most original things I've heard in a long while! The Limit VIP 10". Outrageous EP 12". Melting Pot Germany. Loving Touch EP gram clear vinyl 12". From here Fracture drops a carnival classic in the making in the shape of Machinedrum favourite "Werk It", collaborates with Sam Binga on the club burner "Grippin' Grain" apparently conceived during a wicked hangover and ends on a decidedly rude note with the junglist breaks n bass line business of "Overload". Unite 12". Fracture continues spreading the most positive of vibrations with "Unite".
Hot on the heels of his "Big Up The Ladies" EP on his own Astrophonica, he links up with the crew with four more absolute heaters. Imagine if Fracture was commentating a boxing match between Altern-8 and Rockwell down a dark alley and you're playing the right sport.
Peace, love and "Unite"-y. Hype Tracks 12". Big Up The Ladies 12" in hand-stamped sleeve. Outstanding stuff, as ever from Astrophonica's commander in chief. Soundboy Get Nervous 12". Turn to the flip for "Makes Me Wonder", a futurist take on jungle packed with wonky bass and Watch This!
- Various - Bažant Pohoda electronics, and the cut-up riddims, ghetto-house style samples and pulverizing low-end electronics of "No Screwface". Old friend Alix Perez lends Hot Spot - Fracture & Neptune - Hot Spot / Hush The Crowd hand on closer "So High", whose bustling, rising and falling bassline works in unison with the duo's brilliantly edited breakbeats and manipulated female vocal samples.
Better Than Tomorrow 12". Take You Hot Spot - Fracture & Neptune - Hot Spot / Hush The Crowd 12". Horn crew! Astrophonica crew! Whichever crew you find yourself entrenched in, "Take You" is tailor made for you personally. Piano-smashing, Italo-house riffing, hardcore-rinsing, it's the Astro bossman at his most positive and rave-evangelical.
Hardcore - you know the score. Get Busy 12". Pure futuristic nostalgia - just as it was intended over 20 years ago. From Early 12". You already know how this is going to go down. Fracture finishes the picnic with a darker, steppier take on "From Early" sans the crazy 70s glitch. Seriously #1 - Matilde Davoli - Im Calling You From My Dreams. The Phonecall 12".
Compound One 2 sees the release of Fracture's long-awaited 'The Phonecall, with its eerie stalker vibes, skunk-infested old-skool breaks, and filthy, cavernous bassline. The bassline pressure intensifies 'on the flip side with 'Look Shook', which sees Fracture and Qualifide re-bonding as Compound One. A deceptively minimal intro gives way to a havoc-inducing bassline switch-up, bound to cause wreckage.
Grab these limited represses while you can. Galvanise 12". Subtitles Music. Bringing together their considerable talents in the studio, it's all stripped back with deep, dark vibes in abundance.
First up is "Galvanise" Morning Colors - Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms (8-Track Cartridge, Album) is full of quirky warps, metallic chiming and hollow, clapping breaks.
It's got an eerie glow to it, accentuated by spaced out SFX and ominous echoes. Hot Spot - Fracture & Neptune - Hot Spot / Hush The Crowd Bitter 12". Pleasure District 12". Pleasure District. Another stunning sojourn. Yeah But 12". Hot Spot 12".
