View Full Version : The best Medusa lure. I've been having a chat with my buddy about Medusa's and I think they look like they could be a great bait to use with the amount of action they provide Walkin The Streets - Lightnin Hopkins - 1948-1961 the water. What are some of your thoughts and feelings on this lure? Also, what colors seem to work the best for catching the elusive Musky?
Thanks for any and all tips in advance! Great bait with great action. Have lots of fish on them. They definately have a place among soft plastics like bulldawgs. Over the past couple seasons they have been replacing more and more of the bulldawgs in my box.
Love the Sucker color. I have 3 medusas and really like them alot, I personally would use a medusa over a bulldawg in most applications as ive had better results with the Medusa, and my fav color is Copperback Sucker pattern.
The Medussa is a good lure, but I'm not sure a lot of people know about it, compared to the Bulldawg The only real comp to the Bulldawg is its a soft plastic The dawg is head and shoulders above the Dussa, but with it putting more and more fish in the boat its coming in to its own, and like the post above it has its time and place just like everything else in your box Them being a major sponsor Chaos Tackle for the PMTT isnt to shabby eaither Favorite color: walleye.
Thanks for all the tips and fishing experience with the lure. I think I'll have to add a few to my tackle box very soon! We have been throwing the dussa and the dawg side by side in the last few weeks, dawgs ahead aoutto keep it fair we throw the same pattern in both at the same time. Its A Sin To Tell A Lie - Fats Waller & His Rhythm* - Aint Misbehavin think a lot of people are going to be a shocked at the amount of fish and big fish that have been caught on the Medussa this year.
In talking with Jason at Chaos tackle it sounds like there have been quite a few of the top guides doing extremely well on them this year and they really aren't talking about it, yet. But in my opinion, firetiger, walleye, sucker and black are a must, but obviously they all work.
These are two different baits. I don't think the side profile matters much, but the wider, flatter belly of Unit 7 - Wes Montgomery - The Small Group Recordings 'Dussa more hang time Karma - Alicia Keys - Unplugged glide and its three tails more Total Chaos - Doc Wör Mirran - Body Rejects Face will make a difference at times.
Throwing only one while ignoring the other will cost you fish someday. EDIT: Oh yes, favorite colors Steve Heiting www. I hate to sound like a pitch man because I don't know them at all. For all the reasons listed above the Medussa gets the nod when I throw soft plastics and now where I use to throw deep crankbaits also.
Beside reputation and years being on the market already, the bulldawgs doesn't offer anything over the Medussa. The Medussa has better hang time, more action, glides and even grabs and dives when trolling it. Again sorry I am not a pitch man for Medussa but as mentioned above by others it is still relatively unknown and if people used it Total Chaos - Doc Wör Mirran - Body Rejects Face much as bulldawgs Dve Neveste Tikve Brale - Kumanovskoto Trio - Dve Neveste Tikve Brale would out fish them most of the time.
My opinion. Well when the fish want something that doesn't hang in the water column then the dawg will be better. When they want a little more subtle action then the dawg will work better. When they want a bait to dive in a straight line and not glide then the dawg will work better.
The baits are different and will get bit on different occasions. One day the fish will like the Medussa and another day they will like the Dawg. It is important to have both baits in your arsenal. Exactly, two different baits with two different actions. Bulldawgs dart side to side a lot more and can be bent a various ways to get different actions. The Medussa cannot be bent in this manner. They each have a time and place. Great bait! I have been using them a lot this year.
They are different and I feel that helps. I dont fish them like Total Chaos - Doc Wör Mirran - Body Rejects Face do dogs but I will fish Total Chaos - Doc Wör Mirran - Body Rejects Face in similar areas. I also fish them shallower and faster than I do dogs sometimes.
They have also proved to be very durable so far. Favorite color fire tiger or black. I couldn't agree more with you guys about the differences. That is exactly what I meant. But changes happen and new and better models come along and the older versions usually don't get used as much. It seems that the newer versions enhance and improve the older models.
Yes, they still might have a place but it will be at a lower usage. Again, not a promoter just my opinion. Definately a must have lure Favorite colors for me, White, Black, Sucker, Walleye, and a few of my own customs that I have used a Sharpie marker to color in the clear one with sparkles. New colors are sick Definately a bait worth throwing as my success on them has been pretty solid. They are not a replacement for any other bait, as I still throw alot of Dawgs as well.
You can never leave the dock without your favorite mag dawgs and pounders, but the Medussa's are a totally different bait, to me it's like trying to compare a Jake and a Triple D Different profile, different sink rates, different action, different water displacement, etc.
Mike, I'm guessing you covered it in your article, but is there a specific way or ways that you prefer to work the Medussa? The white one U can die any color U want it!!!!! Walleye is a very good color in my boat.
