Glassdoor: How would you describe your role at Intuit? To stay close to what makes our current, future and even former employees around the world feel included, heard, creative and productive, I travel to meet in person as much as possible. I also connect virtually as often as I can.

For instance, we were at the forefront of inclusion policies and programs for LGBTQ employees and their families for many years. We have 11 thriving employee networks, such as the Intuit Pride Network, which provide smaller forums for people to connect around aspects of their backgrounds or personal affiliations. How did you and the HR team achieve this? Diversity and inclusion seem to be so difficult for other companies. Sherry Whiteley: Diversity and inclusion are embedded in our values and the way we do business.
Our inclusive culture is extremely attractive. Take my own experience coming to Intuit, for example. Glassdoor: Given the demands of your role, w hat is your go-to productivity hack? This was a skill I learned from my mother, a homemaker who greeted me with cookies after school and listened intently to the stories about my day.
A lot of my best thinking and work takes place in conversation with people. This helps me make decisions faster, and enables me to inspire others to do great work. This behavior helps everyone feel more accomplished at the end of the day. I also take time to recharge. I am a huge San Jose Sharks hockey fan, and I have season tickets. I love to cook, eat and spend time with my partner and our five children. Running keeps my stress in check.
I run without music, in complete silence, and I let my mind wander and rest. Glassdoor: What is your stance on equal pay? How do you close the wage gap at Intuit? Sherry Whiteley: At Intuit, we embrace gender diversity, and compensation equity is very important to us. As part of this commitment, we are actively evaluating industry best practices to assess and track relevant metrics, both internally and externally.
Consistent with our values, we strive to be transparent about our diversity and inclusion efforts, including pay equity. Sherry Whiteley: A decade into my career as a product and marketing leader, I had a conversation that changed the course of my career. Ken Coleman was a senior executive familiar with my work at both Activision and Silicon Graphics. Whenever you talk about people things you light up. Sherry Whiteley: I get energy from thinking about the future and all the possibilities. My biggest challenges have been during large company strategy shifts because I get excited about the vision for the future and want to move quickly.
For instance, when we moved from a desktop software company to selling products in the Esse Lugar - Helena* - Azul, we had to rethink everything — our sales strategy, our talent skillset, the ways we work every day. During a major change, employees generally have a lot of questions, and it takes time to learn to do things differently.
